History

In 2009 Tamiko Maldonado founded TamiCo. Dancing Inc. in the Bronx, NY as a means for building life-learning skills. TamiCo. Dancing prides itself on the fact that demographically, there is no other dance school offering similar quality.

The initiative behind TamiCo. Dancing is teaching young artists to genuinely respect and love the art of dance. This rewards personal fulfillment, but more importantly positivity and a lasting effect on each student’s life. Enabling students to live this type of thought process through dance encourages limitless expression. TamiCo. Dancing. Teaching expression through dance.

The Team

Tamiko Maldonado

Founder, Artistic Director

Tamiko Maldonado has dedicated her life to the arts, beginning her dance training at the age of three. She earned her degree in Dance from Adelphi University, where she studied under the legendary Carmen de Lavallade. She furthered her training at Ballet Hispánico with Tina Ramirez and at Third Street Music School under Cara Gargano.

Her diverse background spans ballet, jazz, flamenco, Brazilian, and modern dance. In addition to dance, Tamiko grew up singing and acting, giving her a deep appreciation for the performing arts as a whole.

Tamiko discovered her love for teaching in her early teens. After graduating, she began working on Ralph Lauren’s personal team, but soon realized that her true passion was working with children and sharing the joy of dance. When the opportunity arose to teach at an after-school program, she embraced it wholeheartedly and knew she had found her calling.

In 2009, she founded TamiCo. Dancing, bringing high-quality dance education with a strong ballet foundation to the Bronx community. For over a decade, she has been inspiring and nurturing young dancers, creating a space where students not only train in dance but also build confidence, discipline, and a love for the arts.

I am a student there and i have learned a lot while going there for a year and a half. At the studio I am surrounded by other kids who have a passion to learn dance so they create a great atmosphere to be in. And Ms. Tamiko pushes a lot because she knows we can do better.
